Diets come and diets go. Every day there is a new fad out there for ways to reduce your waist line and drop the scale. So what works and what doesn't? Honestly, no one can make guarantees or really answer that question. Everyone is different and the best thing we can do is eat healthily and exercise. It's as simple as that. Calories in need to be less than calories out if you want to loose weight. 

After a lot of research-and I mean a lot- I have found that the Paleo diet make the most sense to me. It is also one of the first I have tried that has worked! It's a pretty simple concept, although not always easy. Basically you eat in a paleolithic maner. Eating simply and cleanly the way we did way back in the cave man stage of our evolvement. Sounds crazy? I know! However there is a lot of great information out there about it as well as delicious and easy recipes. Best part you can eat bacon! Any diet that allows me to eat bacon is amazing. 

Here is a simple break down:

FOODS YOU CAN NOT EAT: 

  • Anything containing gluten
  • Corn
  • Rice
  • Sugars
  • Dairy (some cheeses are considered a "gray" area and it's really up to you if you want to eat them)
  • Processed Foods
  • Peanuts
  • Legumes
  • Beans

It sounds daunting and difficult, but it's not. I replace all my milk with cocnut milk and all my recipes that call for flower with almond and coconut flowers. 

Here is a sample menu for a day:

Breakfast:
2 scrambled eggs

2 slices of bacon

1 cup of fresh fruit

Lunch:
Grilled Salmon

1 cup of steamed broccoli

Dinner:

Chicken "Parmesan"

3oz of chicken breast breaded with almond flour and baked at 375 until done 

Home made spaghetti sauce

Spaghetti Squash in place of pasta.

a sprinkle of parmesan cheese if you want to included cheeses in your diet.

Dessert:
1 cup of chocolate coconute ice cream 

So as you can see a few simple swaps and you have a delicious, easy and healthy meal!
