BLOG UPDATE: Thinking Of Buying A Home

Tips for First Time Homebuyers

Purchasing a home may be one of the biggest investments you will ever make in your life.  With that being said, you want to make sure you are educated about the home buying process before making the big leap. It may be a good idea to reach out to a local realtor who can inform you about what to expect when purchasing a home.  There is no need for you to try to accomplish this goal alone when there are real estate professionals who can help guide you step by step through the process.  You may also ask your realtor about local first time home buyer classes that can help as well.  Here are a  few of the main points you want to remember when purchasing a home:

1. Always get preapproved before you start veiwing homes

Being preapproved shows that you are a serious buyer and it gives you more negotiating power.  It also helps to narrow down your search so you know the exact price range you should be looking in to save a lot of time for you and your realtor.

2.  Once you put a contract on the home of your choice, you should always get a home inspection.

Since this is the biggest investment of your life, paying two hundred to three hundred dollars for a home inspection is worth paying to make sure this is the right investment for you.

3.  The most important thing to remember when searching for your new home is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.  It's better to buy a home that may not be perfect , but is in the best location, than a home that is perfect but not in a great location.  You can always change the home by renovations or remodeling, but you can never change the location of the home.  You should always be thinking of re-sale value when you purchase a home.
